Picking a class that can cover many boons, and or healing and have a good dps build is better then the hardest class as you will be able to take on multiple roles in a group setting. Check out the website snow crows. They have rotations and skill levels for each class. Look for a class that looks interesting and covers a few roles. Check the

In open world, anything with staff is good with staff TBH (Guardian, Revenant, Thief, Druid, Necro, Mesmer, and Ele) It used to be that Guardian staff was the best for zerging. 12.
Don't go for the easiest class, go for the class that attracts you the most. Enlightening ! Thanks. Necromancer, thief, and ranger are probably the easiest to learn, but for the most part just go with whatever seems appealing, leveling in this game isn't hard compared to many other mmos.
They probably will in one capacity or another. To be honest every class seems to have a decent mix of complicated and uncomplicated classes. There's the Ele Piano meme but Catalyst is far less crazy than other eles from what I'm hearing from friends (though they are bias'd).
The cooldown of the skill is 20 secs. With Alac the CD is 16 Secs. With the trait the skill will pulse Alac 6 times with 2 sec duration per pulse. Totaling 12 secs with 0% boon duration. Since you need 16 Secs of Alac to achieve perma Alac, you need 34% boost to turn that 12 secs into 16 Secs.
Daredevil is by far the easiest thief specialization. Infinite dodges and amazing cleave ftw. I'd say Mirage is easiest for Mesmer because infinite dodge builds in PvE is just memes all the way down but I haven't dug enough into PvE Virtuoso to counter your argument.
It won't save you from critical mistakes, but Warrior/Necromancer are generally the safest bet. Being "Tanky" in GW2 is typically the difference between one-shot or two-shot; you don't really gain all that much by being tanky in general PvE; you just do less damage and contribute less to your party & groups.
Choice of race makes absolutely not mechanical difference. Yes , they do get unique race based Racial Elite skills but the racial skills are typically so poor in comparison to the Class Elite skills that you should never bother with ‘em. Just pick whichever you think looks best.
